Charlotte City Council races decided

Democrats will hold on to their 9-2 majority when the new Charlotte City Council is sworn in next month.

In the At-Large race, Democrats won all four seats. 

Two newcomers to the At-Large seats are Michael Barnes, who moves from his district seat to At-Large and former assistant city manager Vi Lyles.

Incumbents David Howard and Claire Fallon won the other two At-Large seats.

The district races went as predicted.

In the races that were contested:  Al Austin won in District 2.  LaWana Mayfield is declared the winner in District 3.  Greg Phipps won District 4. And Republican Ed Driggs in GOP-leaning District 7.
