With the Summer travel season officially kicking off this weekend, officials at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport are warning travelers that airport lots and decks will be at or near full capacity.
They're blaming added flights by airlines, an increase in originating passengers and Airport construction that has temporarily reduced the number of parking spaces by 5000.
Officials are advising travelers to get dropped off, carpool, or use public transportation and taxis when coming to the airport this Summer.
In addfition, Douglas Airport officials are recommending fliers check parking conditions before leaving for the airport by viewing a real time parking map or calling 704.359.5555; be alert and drive more cautiously while adjusting to CLT’s new entrance road and follow the message signs that have been placed along roadways to help drivers navigate the change.
As always, fliers are also encouraged to arrive early, especially during peak travel days at the Airport which are traditionally Monday mornings, Thursday and Sunday evenings.
